Navy Health Donates $72,500 to Keeping Watch

Navy Health announced it is donating $72,500 to Keeping Watch, a charitable fund for Royal Australian Navy Families on 21 October 2022.

At a meeting with the Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Mark Hammond on Friday 21 October 2022, Navy Health announced it is donating $72,500 to Keeping Watch, a charitable fund for Royal Australian Navy Families.

“The incredible support that Keeping Watch provides to Navy families in hardship is perhaps more important than ever right now. That’s why we’re delighted to be making our largest donation yet. We hope that our support this year will provide a solid boost in funding that can be used for helping those that really need it most.” Ron Wilson, CEO Navy Health Limited.

The donation to Keeping Watch follows on from Navy Health returning $2.7 million in COVID-19 savings to members in June this year, as part of an ongoing commitment not to profit from the COVID-19 pandemic. These savings were the result of fewer policy claims due to government-imposed lockdowns and restrictions on health services during 2020 and 2021. This giveback increased the total COVID-19 support provided to members from Navy Health to more than $4 million.

“As we’re a not-for-profit fund established for the Navy and broader Defence family, we are always looking to support likeminded organisations who share our goal and values to care for and support members. We remain committed to putting members’ health and wellbeing before profits, and the savings we have returned to members this year, as well as this donation to Keeping Watch, gives our members confidence that we are not profiting from the COVID-19 pandemic at their expense.” Michael Miko CDRE, Director, Navy Health Limited.
