White Ribbon Accreditation
Navy Health commits its support to the prevention of violence against women.
The not-for-profit health insurer has affirmed its commitment to the prevention of men’s violence against women this week when White Ribbon announced that Navy Health was a successful applicant for the White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation Program.
Navy Health, a Members Own health fund, provides health cover to past and present members of the Defence Force community, including their immediate family, and has done so for the past 62 years.
Navy Health is an insurer that prides itself in serving those who serve us as a nation.
Chief Executive Officer, Ron Wilson said while the application process for accreditation was thorough, it was one that had the unconditional investment and engagement from everyone within the organisation.
“From the moment the opportunity to be involved in this process was tabled internally, there was, without hesitation, 100 per cent buy-in throughout our workforce.
“Navy Health is privileged to be recognised as a White Ribbon Accredited Workplace and the responsibility we now have in the crusade against men’s violence against women is not underestimated by anyone in our organisation and a social issue we take very seriously,” Mr. Wilson said.
“I acknowledge the extensive work done over an 18-month period by board member (and White Ribbon Ambassador) Warrant Officer of the Navy Gary Wight and our Chief Financial Officer, Janice Brown who, with the support of our workforce, contributed tireless hours to putting our successful submission together.
“It was also a great honour to be presented with our accreditation certificate by Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett who, through his role as a White Ribbon Ambassador, strongly supports our partnership with White Ribbon and the work being done to prevent domestic violence.
“We have committed to White Ribbon that they have our absolute support in the work they do to eradicate domestic violence and we will do what we can as an organisation, internally and externally, to take their message forward,” Mr. Wilson said.
As an accredited workplace, and in support of White Ribbon, Navy Health will integrate key initiatives and strategies into its day-to-day operations with staff and stakeholders, sponsorship and ambassador agreements and digital communications to members to take active steps in delivering the important call-to-action to prevent violence against women.
