About Our Cancer Support Program
This 12-16 week program assists Navy Health members by providing virtual, tailored, multidisciplinary support for people who are currently receiving cancer treatment, have recently completed treatment, or are living with advanced cancer. It’s designed to sit alongside and complement the continuing care that you are receiving from your existing medical team.
The program brings together the support of specialists in cancer care to develop a plan for you that will help you regain your strength and quality of life. Support is delivered via video or phone calls that allow you to participate from the comfort of your own home.

As part of the Cancer Support Program, you’ll gain access to:
Cancer Nursing Support and Navigation
Expert oncology Nursing Care Coordinators will work with you to develop a personalised care plan, help monitor your side effects and connect you with relevant services, while providing education that is tailored to your needs.
Psychology Sessions
A cancer diagnosis takes its toll on all aspects of life, from relationships to finances, sleep and mood. Specialist oncology psychologists can offer support by providing you with practical tools and strategies to assist you and your carers.
Dietitian Session
Nutrition is crucial for supporting you through and after treatment. Experienced, cancer-focused dietitians can help address common nutritional problems such as decreased appetite, nausea and changes in taste.
Exercise Physiology Sessions
As recommended by the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia, exercise professionals work with your care team to develop an individualised exercise program aimed to increase your strength and endurance, while improving energy levels.
Rehabilitation and Recovery Support
Our Cancer Support program is designed to support your recovery during and after cancer treatment. It focuses on helping you rebuild strength, manage side effects and regain confidence as you return to everyday life.
Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery can impact your physical energy, mobility and overall wellbeing, even after treatment has finished. This program provides personalised support to help you recover safely and at your own pace.

Through tailored exercise plans that help reduce fatigue, Cancer Support improves mobility and increases your overall physical function, supporting a gradual and safe return to the activities you enjoy.

Cancer Support can help you build resilience, manage stress, and maintain a positive mindset throughout your recovery journey.
- Manage ongoing treatment side effects
Learn to effectively manage side effects, including fatigue, weakness, and reduced mobility, with strategies and interventions designed to ease these symptoms and improve your quality of life.
- Access flexible, virtual support
Support that fits your lifestyle, allowing you to participate in the program from home or wherever is most convenient, making it easier to stay connected and committed to your recovery.
The program is available to members with any type of cancer, during or after treatment. Support is delivered by experienced health professionals in partnership with your medical team, ensuring your care is coordinated and aligned with your existing treatment plan. The program is provided at no additional cost to you.
Program Eligibility
Members with Navy Health’s Gold, Silver, or Bronze Hospital cover may be eligible if they are over 18 and are currently receiving cancer treatment, have completed it in the last 24 months or are living with advanced cancer.
