Navy Health eligibility
Navy Health was founded in 1955 and is a not-for-profit health fund run to benefit members.
For nearly 70 years, we’ve provided top-quality, affordable health insurance to serving and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members and their families, up to and including grandkids. We also look after the broader ADF community by offering cover to the thousands of Australians who work for companies that supply Australia’s Defence Force.
In short, uniformed or not, there’s a good chance you’re eligible to enjoy a better deal on your health insurance and experience the compassionate service of a health insurer with a members first culture.

Why join Navy Health?
At Navy Health, we take pride in protecting those who protect us, their families and everyone who plays a part in making that happen.
Our real strength comes from our size. It’s easy to get lost as a member of a health fund that looks after hundreds of thousands of people. Because we’re smaller, we’re more nimble and more personalised. We can pay closer attention to our members in the way they want.
Whether that’s looking after their private health insurance with minimal involvement or caring for a member’s changing situation throughout their life, our local team of experts take the stress out of dealing with health insurance.
Navy Health is proud to be a part of Members Health Fund Alliance, an alliance of not-for-profit health funds who put the health of their members before profits. As a not-for-profit health insurance fund, our profits don’t end up with shareholders. Rather, we use them to benefit our members by minimising premium increases and offering great value products and services.

Navy Health Capital Position
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) requires private health insurers to hold a certain level of capital so that the community can have confidence that they will be able to meet their financial commitments.
At 30 June 2024, Navy Health held 3.24 times the amount of capital required.
We’re proud to be part of the Members Health Fund Alliance
Who are Members Health?
The Members Health Fund Alliance is an association joined by private health insurance funds that seek to put members’ health and wellbeing before profit, whether they be not-for-profit or part of a member-owned group.
We are proud to be a part of this alliance and collaborate with like-minded funds to help deliver better outcomes for our members.
What does this mean for our members?
More benefits back to policyholders
Funds such as Navy Health that are part of this alliance have a value-based, member-driven business model, which means, as a group, they return more premiums back to members than for-profit competitors.
High policyholder satisfaction
Members Health funds consistently average higher customer satisfaction and retention rates. With competitive insurance premiums, they represent excellent value for money.
Customer retention and growth
Members Health funds now cover over 5 million Australians and because they put their members before profit and offer generous benefits, this number continues to grow. Members also stay with these funds longer than for-profit competitors.
Higher levels of trust
When it comes to trust, Members Health funds are in a league of their own. Independent surveys of fund members show that participating insurers have trust scores well above some of Australia’s biggest household brands.
Competitive health insurance premiums
As not-for-profit funds, they don’t have to pay dividends or drive profits for shareholders and investors, allowing them to operate on smaller margins, offer competitive premiums, and give more back to members.
Our Board of Directors
The Navy Health Board is made up of senior leaders from financial services, legal, and healthcare industries, as well as highly ranked ADF personnel.
