NT Hospital FAQ
Do I have to migrate to the new product?
Yes, as a result of the Government initiated Private Health Insurance reforms Navy Health has consolidated its product range in line with the PHI reforms. If you do not advise Navy Health of any changes to your current plan, you will be automatically migrated over to the new product from April 1 2019.
Why is my product closing?
Navy Health is continually reviewing its product range in order to ensure simplicity and ease of understanding for its members. Navy Health is happy to provide comprehensive product review against other Navy Health products which may suit your needs.
Is Premium Gold Hospital 350 or Premium Gold Hospital different from my current NT and NT 300?
No both of the above products offer the same level of top hospital cover, and the only variance in the excess applicable on a hospital admission.
I have NT Hospital 300 and am booked into hospital after April 1, what excess do I pay?
Any treatments where you are admitted to hospital prior to 1 April 2019 will be covered as normal under your current NT Hospital policy and you will pay a $300 excess. As a transitional measure, if you transfer to our Premium Gold Hospital 350 product and you are admitted to hospital for treatment arranged prior to receiving this notice, you will pay a $300 excess for that admission.
There has been a substantial increase in premium – Why?
As a not-for-profit health insurer we are working hard to keep premiums as low as possible. In Northern Territory rising claim costs continue to have a substantial impact on benefits paid to Members. Whilst we carefully consider the impact of increased premiums on our Members, to ensure we are able to continue to provide the highest level of service and benefits possible, from 1 April 2019. Both Premium Gold Hospital and Premium Gold Hospital 350 are still extremely competitively priced.
Will I be subject to re-serving my waiting periods?
You will not be required to serve any waiting periods for any waiting periods you have already served. If you choose a product with higher benefits, you will be subject to the applicable upgrade waits. If you automatically transfer to Premium Gold Hospital 350 (or choose a lower level of cover), provided you have satisfied your waiting periods, no additional waiting periods apply. If you automatically transfer to Premium Gold Hospital 350 and subsequently transfer to another policy with a lower excess than Premium Gold Hospital 350, the $350 excess might continue to apply for a period of time.
