Navy Health Flood Relief 2022
To recognise the impact of the 2022 flood in QLD and NSW Navy Health has put together an assistance policy to help those affected members through this difficult period.
Assistance options available for affected members
Eligible Members may be able to access the following assistance from Navy Health:
- Three months premium relief. Members will not have to contribute to their policy for this period of time.
- Members will continue to be able to use their Navy Health private health insurance for hospital and/or ancillary claims.
- Other assistance options as discussed with and approved by Navy Health by calling 1300 306 289.
Do I qualify for assistance?
Assistance will be available to all members of Navy Health who reside in an area that has been impacted by flood which has been declared a Natural Disaster by the Australian Government.
Members must also:
- Have an active policy with Navy Health before or on before 24 February 2022.
- Have an active policy at the time of applying for assistance.
- Have not applied for the relief scheme, for the same classified disaster.
- Have had approval for a recovery payment from the Australian Government by visiting here; and
- Applied for assistance before 30 June 2022.
- You will need to supply Navy Health with evidence of your approval from Services Australia.
Further to eligibility rules, the following rules of the scheme will also apply:
- Eligible policies must be paid up to date (no greater than 2 weeks in arrears) at the date the disaster is declared.
- Policies within the initial 12 month wait periods for their hospital cover, will not be able to claim unless the pre-existing conditions assessment is approved.
- Members will not be able to upgrade or downgrade their policy during the period of assistance, however, are welcome to do so after the period has ended.

Navy Health offers a program to support your wellbeing during this time.
It is common to experience feelings of anxiety and depression as a response to natural disasters. Seeking support early can help you get on top of the emotions and back on your feet. By calling Strive for Health, you can gain emotional support and begin to work through plans of how to recover and rebuild after property or other loss.
If you are feeling distressed, needing support, or suffering health symptoms as a result of the floods, you can talk to a health professional, including a Social Worker or a Registered Nurse easily by phone and get some support to get back on track.
