Families with one serving member (single parent family) can opt to change their membership to the military family premium. This premium excludes the cost of one adult (serving person) and this adult cannot make any claims on the membership.
Families with two serving members can also opt to change their membership to the military family membership (dependants only). This premium excludes the cost of two adults and these adults cannot make any claims on the membership.
Partners of serving members may take out Navy Health membership in their own right and once the serving person is ready for discharge, they may add themselves to the membership and upgrade the membership to a couples policy.
The even better news is that serving members are entitled to a 10% reduction on their premiums. Simply by being in the ADF you pay less for your family’s or partner’s health cover while you are on continuous full-time service. Find out more .
Upon discharge, the ex-serving person/s can be added back onto the membership. If they do so within 90 days of discharge, they will not be subject to any waiting periods or pre-existing condition penalties.
